When we change our mobile service provider, we get a new SIM card from the new service provider and we get to retain our old SIM cards. These SIM cards can be kept to power up any old mobile phones that you may have. Some newer phone models cannot power up without a SIM.
This is useful to transfer data from one phone to another especially when changing phone brands - where the PC suite may not be fully compatible.
